Redefining Success
Larry Kesslin and Frank Scarpaci Discuss Success
This week Richard and Joe talked with Larry Kesslin and Frank Scarpaci.
Larry Kesslin has led the life of an entrepreneur and has achieved success by all social standards. At some point, Larry started to search for something more than financial success and realized that he needed to be part of something greater than himself. Larry reached out many people around the world who make a good living, but still felt something was missing and wanted to connect with other people at a deep human level. He was looking for “those people who want to live for their eulogy, not their resume.” Larry will discussed his book Success Redefined and its two core premises:
- Maslow knew that survival was our greatest human purpose and when we’re in survival mode we connect with everyone else in survival mode more deeply. The evidence is clear to me, especially after natural disasters and situations that put us back into survival mode. We become much more connected around a purpose of survival.
- The Connectedness Continuum and its 5 levels of connection starting with Surface level connections and ending with our personal purpose, our true reason for being on this planet.
On a similar topic, Frank Scarpaci joined the show talking about corporate social responsibility. A passionate advocate of the Benefit Corporation movement, Frank will explain what a B-Corporation is and describe how these businesses create public good. Frank’s company, Vianova, was one of the first companies to earn a B-Corp certification in 2008.
