Retired Brigadier General David Brahms (ret) was to talk about his involvement with “Mission: Readiness,” an organization that advocates for broader access to preschool education and promotes programs to combat childhood obesity. Today’s military leaders are concerned about poor high school graduation rates and that more young people than ever don’t qualify for military service due to grades, a criminal record, or health issues related to being overweight. Brahms’ career in the Marine Corps start in 1963 shortly after his graduation from Harward Law School. Brahms was promoted to Brigadier General in 1985, prior to serving as Director, Judge Advocate Division, for the final three years of his active military career. In 1988 he retired from active military service.
Todd Vance, founder of POW, he teaches Muay Thai kick boxing, and is looking to make his professional debut in MMA. POW is a charity that focuses on vertans and active duty military members struggling with PTSD. The charity’s goal is to offer a different approach than medicating to solve the problems that these individuals face.
