Congratulations to Your Host!
Today, Tuesday September 17th, is the official publishing date of Richard’s bestselling book So, What’s Your Play? His book is about his experience as a teenager working as the scrapbooker for Bobby Riggs. It was during this time that Bobby played Billie Jean King in the 1973 tennis match dubbed The Battle of the Sexes. Millions of people watched the match, but no one knew more about it than Richard Muscio. While the world’s eyes were focused on Bobby Riggs, the self-proclaimed “king of male chauvinist pigs,” and Billie Jean King, the defender of feminism, Richard Muscio saw the match through the headlines of the day – headlines he had carefully clipped and saved as Bobby Riggs’ scrapbook maker. Only years later would Muscio realize that Bobby Riggs, the man who said that women should belong in the kitchen, actually made America a more tolerant society. The book provides contextual insight into the Women’s Liberation Movement and the attitudes that created the need for change.
