Richard and Joe delve into the complex area of health care this week with Dr. Sol Lizerbram who was co-founder and chairman of the board of HealthFusion. Dr. Lizerbram has been a part of the healthcare industry for more than 45 years. He received a degree in pharmacy in 1970 from Long Island University, School of Pharmacy, and was licensed as a registered pharmacist in the states of New York and Pennsylvania. In 1977, he earned a medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, and is a licensed physician and surgeon in Pennsylvania and California.
In 1986, Dr. Lizerbram co-founded a national physician practice management company and served as chairman of its board of directors until 1998. In 1996 Dr. Lizerbram was recognized by NASDAQ/Ernst & Young as the 1996 Entrepreneur of the Year in the health care industry. In 1998 he co-launched and became chairman of the board of HealthFusion, a company that developed web-based, cloud computing software for physicians, hospitals, and medical billing services.
Dr. Lizerbram was a trustee of the US Olympic Committee. Sol was appointed by the California Insurance Commissioner to the Governing Committee of the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau, was appointed by Governor Gray Davis as a Commissioner to the Health Policy and Data Advisory Commission, and by Governor Jerry Brown as a Commissioner with the California Medical Assistance Commission. Dr. Lizerbram serves as a Trustee for the University of California San Diego (UCSD).
Dr. Lizerbram is the incoming President of the Jewish National Fund and the first from the west coast of the United States to serve in that office.
Dr. Lizerbram currently resides in Rancho Sante Fe with his wife, Lauren and has two children David and Marci, and three grandchildren.
