Norma Yaeger’s Rise Above the New York Stock Exchange’s Glass Ceiling

Listen to Podcast of the Show

Breaking Down the Walls Norma-Yaeger It’s Your Money and Your Life! is honored to host Norma Yaeger on the show this Saturday night. Norma Yaeger was the first woman stockbroker to be registered with and walk the floor of the New York Stock Exchange in 1962. Norma Yaeger recently authored “Breaking Down the Walls: 50 Courageous and Successful Years at the Forefront of the Women’s Movement,” which not only chronicles her pioneering career in the “good old boys” era of the New York Stock Exchange, but offers readers a description of the stock market in everyday language. While today’s public is fascinated with shows like Madmen, Norma Yaeger lived and worked in gender-biased times, and she accomplished many “firsts” in the area of gender-equality.

Before she retired from her career as a stockbroker, Norma Yaeger founded two companies: Yaeger Securities and Yaeger Capital Markets. Living in Encino, she still follows the markets closely. Her book chronicles recent market events, and exposes unethical behavior by some professionals in the market today.
