Next, they welcomed Dr. Faye Girsh of the Hemlock Society of San Diego and Dr. Bob Uslander of Integrated MD Care to discuss making end of life decisions.
Rick Payne
Rick Payne is the founder of Cannabis Real Estate Consultants an elite team of real estate professionals with experience in land use, zoning, sensitive uses, and all the other nuances of commercial real estate in the cannabis industry. Cannabis Real Estate Consultants work diligently to ensure that the properties that have been CREC Certified™ are zoned correctly in accordance with local ordinances or municipal codes and any applicable state restrictions. They also ensure that every CREC Certified™ property has been cleared of any surrounding sensitive uses per the applicable local and state regulations.
Rick graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in International Economics, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance.

Dr. Faye Girsh
Dr. Faye Girsh was the President of the Hemlock Society USA from 1996-2002 and Senior Vice President of End-of-Life Choices (Hemlock’s temporary name) from 2002-2004. She had served on Hemlock’s national board and essentially succeeded its founder, Derek Humphry. She is the founder and current president of the Hemlock Society of San Diego. While President of the Hemlock Society she started the Caring Friends program, in 1998. In 2004 she was one of the founders of the Final Exit Network, which continues the work of the Caring Friends program. She continues as a Senior Advisor to the Network.
Dr. Girsh received her doctorate in Human Development from Harvard University. She was Associate Professor of Psychology and department chair at Morehouse College for nine years. She was a Research Associate at the University of Chicago and also taught at Roosevelt and Northwestern Universities. For 18 years she practiced as a clinical and forensic psychologist in San Diego. In 1996 she closed her practice to head the Hemlock Society USA in Denver.
For the last 25 years, Dr. Girsh has appeared in debates and speeches all over the U.S. and has been on national TV and radio, including Court TV, Good Morning America, and Nightline.
Dr. Bob Uslander
Dr. Bob Uslander has been practicing medicine for more than twenty-five years, currently as a concierge physician leading a team of holistic practitioners at Integrated MD Care. He is dedicated to helping people live with joy, and without fear and struggle, at any stage of life, and especially in the face of challenging or terminal illness.
Since 2003, he has focused on creating and working with practices and programs that help the elderly and clinically complex members of the community receive excellent health care. In 2003 Dr. Uslander created Sierra Housecalls Medical Group to provide medical care to the homebound and elderly members of his Northern California community. In 2004, he helped form Seniority Life Care at Home, a provider of non-medical in-home care for seniors, which allows them to remain in their own homes more safely and independently. He was a founder and past president of Sierra LifeNet, a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the frail elderly, including the operation of a local Adult Day Health Care program.
Dr. Uslander received his BS in Biology at the University of Illinois (Summa Cum Laude) and is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine (AOA Honor Society). He has been married for 27 years to Sandy Uslander. Together they have 3 children – Eric, Carly, and Levi. He enjoys many outdoor activities such as snowboarding, hiking, rafting, cycling, running, and golf. His favorite pastime is watching his nine-year-old son Levi play baseball.
