Mayor Jerry Sanders joined the show Sunday, November 18th. Mayor Sanders will complete his second and final term as Mayor of San Diego in December 2012. Since coming to the San Diego area for college, San Diego State, Sanders has be a productive and active member of the community. Before his political career, he joined the San Diego Police Department where he had the distinction of being the youngest person to earn the rank of Police Chief in the city’s history.
Once he was Police Chief, Mayor Sanders used several progressive measures that relied heavily on community support to reduce the crime rate of the city. This partnership with local residents influenced his policy decisions once he became mayor. One of his hallmarks achievements was to ensure that San Diego and all of southern California has a lasting supply of usable water without causing adverse effects to the environment.
