The guest was Jeff Sotzing, the President of Carson Entertainment Group. Mr. Sotzing has been working to preserve his uncle’s legacy since the late night talk show host’s retirement in 1992. Since the taping of the last show, Mr. Sotzing has cataloged more than 4,000 hours of the show’s interviews with celebrity guests.
In 1977, Mr. Sotzing was invited by his uncle to work on “The Tonight Show.” His job was answering phones. He went on to work his way up to the position of producer where he won an Emmy for his work on the Tonight Show for a specific episode featuring Bette Midler and Robin Williams, which was Johnny’s next-to-last show. Currently, Mr. Sotzing is in negotiations with iTunes for the release of some of the “The Tonight Show’s” episodes in the fall of 2013.
