    Richard and Joe interviewed two guests this week. Their first guest, David Arison, is VP of Global Business Relations at Miya, a company whose goal is optimizing water supply in urban water systems worldwide, partners with utilities to help insure an abundance of fresh water through efficient management of existing fresh water resources with comprehensive technology-based solutions. As VP of Global Business Relations, Mr. Arison is responsible for strengthening the company’s associations worldwide. David talked about the Miya’s global focus and how the company implements The Doing Good Model Book on Amazon.com, outlined in a new book by his mother, former guest and founder of Miya, Shari Arison.

    David holds a BA in Business from the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel.

    Their next guest, Martin Staubus discussed employee stock ownership plans (ESOP). These plans can be confusing and complicated. Mr. Staubus is the Executive Director of the Beyster Institute at UCSD based at the Rady School of Management at UCSD. The Beyster Institute advises business leaders on the effective use and implementation of ESOPs. Mr. Staubus has extensive experience in workplace issues and employee stock ownership plans. Prior to joining the Beyster Institute, Mr. Staubus served as deputy director of the ESOP association, was a ERISA policy analyst for the US Department of labor, Vice President of human resources at Bon Appetit Management Co., and he was an attorney at Johanson Berenson LLP specializing in ESOP law.

    Mr. Staubus received his B.A. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1974 and his JD in Labor and Employment law from Golden Gate University in 1978. He also earned a MBA from The George Washington University School of Business in 1989.
