Budd Friedman
Mr. Friedman was the founder and original proprietor of The Improv Comedy Club. The Improv celebrated its 50th last year, and to commemorate this milestone, EPIX created a one-hour documentary called The Improv: 50 Years behind the Brick Wall. He was instrumental in launching the comedy careers of Rodney Dangerfield, Richard Lewis, Robert Klein, Jay Leno, Andy Kaufman, Freddie Prinze, Steve Landesberg, Jimmie Walker, and for a brief time, managed Bette Midler at the early stages of her career. It was with Friedman’s help and guidance that Ms. Midler first appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Mr. Friedman often reflects on his club’s influence on the evolution of stand-up comedy, and he is proud that his business brings laughter to his audiences.
Richard, Budd and Joe will reflect on the life and times of actor comedian Robin Williams.
Scott Slater
Since the opening of the first location of Slater’s 50/50 in Anaheim Hills in June of 2009, the chain has expanded to five locations throughout San Diego and Orange County. Their signature burger, made from 50% beef and 50% bacon, was conceived at a tailgating event for a Chargers game. It has been featured on multiple media shows including the Travel Channel’s FOOD PARADISE – The Spicy Edition. Additionally, Mr. Slater was recently named one of the San Diego Metropolitan’s 2014 “40 Under Forty” award honorees.
