Congratulations to Mari Muscio for finishing her first New York City Marathon! Mari finished in 5 hours 13 minutes 4 seconds. Not bad for her first time especially since it was doubtful she would be able to compete at all, injuring her foot just one week before the race.
The Marathon saw some historic results. Mary Keitany won the women division for the third straight time. Keitany defended her title in 2 hours, 24 minutes, 26 seconds, one second behind her time last year.
At 20, Ghirmay Ghebreslassie became the youngest men’s winner in this event. Ghebreslassie was the first native of Eritrea to win the New York marathon. He finished his debut in 2 hours 7 minutes 51 seconds.
Before supporting Mari’s effort, Richard played in the 2016 Halloween San Dieguito Academy Community Doubles Tennis Tournament with Luke Lawver
Before jetting off to accompany Mari at the marathon, Richard played in the 2016 Halloween San Dieguito Academy Community Doubles Tennis Tournament with Luke Lawver. They did well, and it is still being debated whether Luke was supporting Richard or visa vera. They had a great time for a great fundraising event.
