This show focuses on the funding crisis facing medical research and our biotech sector. Our guests were Joe Panetta, President and CEO of Biocom, Hudson Freeze MD, Ph.D., and Pamela Itkin-Ansari MD, Ph.D. from the Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute.
Biocom is the major trade association for San Diego’s biomedical and life sciences industries. Biocom enables and encourages collaboration among researchers and biotech companies in an effort to bring about medical advances as quickly as possible.
Dr. Freeze and Dr. Itkin-Ansari are researchers at the Stanford Burnham Medical Research Institute in La Jolla. Dr. Freeze is a Professor at the Institute and his research focuses on the pathology resulting from faulty glycosylation. Dr. Itkin-Ansari is a Professor at UCSD and research is focused on developing therapies for diabetes and pancreatic cancer.
