Memory Care for Seniors with St. Paul’s Senior Homes & Services

The show explored the issue of senior care. Richard and Joe were joined by Liam Dunfey, Major Gifts and Planned Giving Manager, and Melissa Stinson, Senior Day Supervisor at St. Paul’s Senior Homes & Services. This establishment was founded in 1967 by St. Paul’s Parish to aid senior citizens in San Diego with limited financial means. Since its inception, they have provided affordable living arrangements and activities so that their elderly clients can lead active and fulfilling social and spiritual lives. Much of their focus is to mitigate suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and to help seniors navigate through the scary and disorienting aspects of these diseases so that they may still have happy and productive days.

liam-dunfeyLiam Dunfey has been his lending his skills in fundraising, marketing, and enrollment management to St. Paul’s Senior Homes & Services since the late fall of 2009. He ensures that the costs will stay affordable. Mr. Dunfey received his BA in American Studies and MA in Higher Education Administration from University of Maryland College Park. In addition he has continued to pursue to academic certifications.

Melissa Stinson has been working in memory care settings across the US for 9½ years. She received her BA in English Literature from the University of North Texas. She wears several hats, working as receptionist, direct care giver, bus driver, and Program Supervisor. Ms. Stinson’s career at St. Paul’s Senior Homes and Services began in early summer of 2013. Melissa is a volunteer at the Alzheimer’s Association and certified Memories in the Making Facilitator.
