The guest was Bing Bush, Jr., an attorney and expert in equine law and an advocate for horse conservation and preservation, Bush Law Offices. Richard and Joe talked with Mr. Bush about current projects he is involved in to bring more recognition to the world of horse racing.
Mr. Bush was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky on a small farm near a horse park. He grew up riding horses for pleasure, then graduated to hunters, jumpers and event riding. After that he broke yearlings, exercised horses at the track and trained horses.
Upon completing Law School at University of Kentucky, he moved to California and began as an associate attorney with the law firm of Mullen, Plummer, Badger (1987). He became a partner, forming Mullen, Plummer, Badger & Bush in 1995 and remained there until 1999 and founded his own law firm focused representing jockeys and owners in the racing business, he opened offices in Kentucky and San Diego.
His largest client to date is the estate of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed al Maktoum, son of ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum. Mr Bush has made several trips to Dubai to collaborate with his excellency, Sheikh Rashid. Tragically, Sheikh Rashid suffered a heart attack and died a few weeks ago at the age of 33.
Mr. Bush is also involved with horse rescue organizations such as After the Finish Line and the Wild for Life Foundation, as well as being on the board of the Red Bucket Rescue.
