Discussion on Immigration and the IRS with Former Commissioner Mark Everson

Mark-EversonOur guest was Mark W. Everson. Mr. Everson is a former deputy commissioner at the Immigration and Naturalization Service and was commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service from 2003 to 2007. He was involved in developing the proposal that created the Department of Homeland Security, and he also oversaw transition planning for the border and transportation security components of the new department as deputy director for management at the Office of Management and Budget. Everson is currently the Commissioner of the Department of Workforce Development for the State of Indiana as well as Vice Chairman for the alliantgroup, a national tax advisory firm.

We spoke to Mr. Everson about his current position with the alliantgroup, his recent article in the Washington Post regarding immigration reform, and the current IRS debacle. Mr. Everson’s obvious expertise on these subjects helped to shed light on the current happenings in both immigration reform and the scandal facing the IRS.
