The excerpt below is from the San Diego Union Tribune summarizing Oceanside’s Thanksgiving Day running races.
OCEANSIDE — While some families were still in bed or preparing for company, many spent Thanksgiving morning together running or walking though downtown Oceanside at the annual Turkey Trot fundraiser.
“This is just such a great way to start Thanksgiving,” said Mark Erwin, one of the participants.
It was the largest Pacific Marine Credit Union O’side Turkey Trot ever, with about 8,500 registered for the races and thousands more there to watch or cheer on the runners. That was about 1,000 more than last year and nearly triple the 3,000 or so who took part in the first such event in 2006.
